The Lake Bafa area is an important refuge for flora and
fauna, much deserving of its status as a Nature Reserve. In the surrounding area
of Lake Bafa and the Meander Delta there are over 250 species of birds. With 60
species of orchids, 20 species on our land, and natural olive groves with many
flowers in spring it is not surprising it is a favourite haunt for botanists,
birdwatchers, zoologists and other groups.
The area has much interest for photographers, wildlife photographers and painting groups who enjoy the unspoilt nature and peace far away from the rush of mass tourism. Hiking in the area is superb and it is also an ideal centre for biblical or Christian studies. With many interesting places to visit Lake Bafa is the ideal location for visiting the South Aegean area. Important places like Ephesus, Miletus and Priene are so near that time is not wasted driving and there is more time for enjoying the places you visit.
